Wineglass Bay Lookout - NatureTREAD™
Wineglass Bay, Tasmania – With crystal clear waters and curving white beaches, this is one of Tasmania’s most celebrated views. Visited by thousands of locals and tourists, the visitor experience is now enhanced by the building of a new lookout, opening up the view of the breathtaking Wineglass Bay. This lookout was carefully designed to fit in with the natural surroundings and allows for the growing numbers of visitors greater accessibility across the hillside.
Helmed by CPT Engineering, Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP grating for this new structure.
Project Challenges
- Lookout point was constructed at the top of a 40 min walk.
- Logistical challenges were a key concern.

- GratEX® FRP Mini Mesh Grating is constructed from premium resin systems that include corrosion resistant properties and UV inhibitors with a fire retardant formula.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
