Swansea Jubilee Beach Watercraft Access

Swansea Jubilee Beach Watercraft Access – NatureTREAD™

Swansea, Tasmania – As part of the Lower East Coast Marine Infrastructure project, this boat ramp was redeveloped. Known for being a scenic coastal town and a prime fishing area, this project has improved safety and access to the water for fishers, and boosted recreational fishing and tourism in the area. With a double lane boat ramp, jetty extension and the installation of a breakwater wave attenuator screen, this project has been forecasted to provide economic growth in the area for many decades to come.

Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP decking, stair treads, structural profiles fenders and wave attenuator screen for these new jetties.

Project Challenges

  • Sections of the structure would be permanently submerged in water. Corrosion resistance was a key consideration.
  • Structure had to be able to maintain its structural integrity in corrosive coastal conditions.
  • Difficulty in setting up and laying of structure as it was highly dependent on weather and tidal conditions.
