Grafton Foreshore Development
Grafton Foreshore Development - NatureTREAD™
Grafton, New South Wales – The Grafton Waterfront Precinct underwent a major revitalisation to make it a tourism hub. Picnic areas, walkways and carparks were among the new installations for this upgrade. Spearheaded by Alder Group, extensive construction work was carried out, while managing historically sensitive structures and the delicate riverine ecosystem.
Treadwell was engaged to supply the NatureTREAD™ FRP solution for the access ramp.
Project Challenges
- The selected material had to have minimal negative impact on the natural environment.
- Material longevity was another key consideration as the structure would be exposed to the outdoor environment.

- The openings in the grating allows for water and sunlight to go through, enabling vegetation to thrive. This also minimises the risk of stagnant water.
- Treadwell FRP include UV inhibitors, and is naturally corrosion resistant.
- Treadwell FRP products can be easily modified on site with hand tools, without the need for any hot works permit.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance-free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
