Jetties
Jetties protect a coastline from the current and tides. Commonly constructed from traditional materials like concrete or wood, there is a shift towards fibreglass jetties as these withstand corrosion and exposure to the coastal environment.
Currents, tides and waves gradually wash away or erode the coastline of a beach. Jetties act as a barrier against this corrosion. Serving a dual function as a tourist attraction, jetties also provide safe access for visitors.
